Susan Bassett. President
Susan has served on and off the Board of The Geelong Mood Support Group for over 20 years.A counsellor, specialising in anxiety in younger individuals, Susan has a vast experience in the community mental health sector.
With a background in nursing Susan is committed to social equality and in providing support to underprivileged families.
John McCarthy OAM. Treasurer
John is extremely involved in a range of social welfare organisations in the Northern suburbs of Geelong: St. Vincent de Paul, Corio Village listening lounge, Norlane Senior Citizens, Church groups and has done this for over 20 years.
As a former Vice President of the Geelong Food Relief and Board director for several years along with the Geelong outpost & Chair of the Barwon Disability Resource Council, John has strong values around community engagement, development and principles.
He has also been volunteering with Barwon Health for 17 years and St. John of God for 13 years; and recently joined Vision Australia as a radio announcer.
For the past five years, through Access Ministries, he teaches religion instruction at two government schools. Through all this John has had time to be a past president of The Geelong Mood Support Group, and Board member stretching back almost 20 years.
Reid Maxwell. BA, GDip(CommunityMentalHealth), MA(PsychoanalyticalStuds) Manager
Married with two children now 16 and 18 years old, Reid has been working in the Community Mental Health sector for some 20 years; and for the last 12 years as Coordinator now Manager of the Geelong Mood Support Group.
Having a Masters in Psychoanalytical Studies from Deakin University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Mental Health (Uni of Qld); Reid’s interests focus on our emotional well-being which is moulded within a traditional humanistic and yet post-modern framework.
His vision is to ensure each individual is heard and valued in the community they wish to belong to.
